Lessons from the Great Ones, (Paperback)

In Lessons from the Great Ones, author RaJean Thayer Vawter describes why she likes the teachings of the five biblical writers who are the focus of her book: John the Apostle, Ezekiel, Peter, Haggai, and Habakkuk. She says, "To me, they are 'GREAT ONES' because they were all willing to pay a price and allow God to make them great." She continues, "I love each one, what they have taught me, and the impact they have had on me."<ol><li><b>John </b>called himself the disciple whom Jesus loved. He was very practical, logical, well organized and able to teach/write in a clearly reasoned way that makes sense.</li><li><b>Ezekiel</b> wrote an orderly account of the events of his day as well as his God-encounters. But he also slipped in fundamental details concerning transition into ministry that are often missed.</li><li><b>Peter</b> is one of my favorite Bible characters. I struggle to keep from being offended whenever I hear him put down or made fun of.</li><li><b>Haggai </b>was a man who was willing to repeat the sometimes-hard word God wanted him to deliver. Sometimes we need to be confronted with truth that hurts and requires repentance and change.</li><li><b>Habakkuk </b>isn't afraid to look at circumstances the way they are without trying to whitewash them. His honesty is admirable and his relationship with God is to be emulated.</li></ol>The author wrote this book to honor these great men of God whom she thinks of as "true celebrities." She invites the reader to meditate on the lessons of these great ones, and allow them to radically change your life.
